Contest Details

Using the general theme of music as their inspiration, Massachusetts students, grades K through 12, are invited to submit an original drawing or painting to the Boston Pops Student Art Contest. Subjects can range from literal representations of the Boston Pops on the Esplanade for their famous Fourth-of-July concert or in Symphony Hall for their spring or Holiday season concerts, to something more abstract, not at all directly related to the Pops—something more personal that represents what music means to the individual student.

All entries must be original artwork and the work of the student contestant.

Artwork must be in one of the following forms: drawing/sketch (charcoal or pencil), painting (oils or watercolor), a design created with an art software program, or photography.

Artwork must be at least 3” by 5” and no larger than 30” x 50”.

Entries must be received by Friday, May 14. Winners will be notified by Friday, May 28.

All entries should be mailed to Boston Pops Art Contest, 301 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston MA  02115, and should include the artist’s name, age, grade, and school on the back of the artwork.   Entries may also be submitted as jpegs to artcontest@bso.org and must be 300 dpi or higher.  The ten winning artists will have their artwork displayed on screens in Symphony Hall during a Boston Pops performance, as well as featured on bostonpops.org.
