Sen Joyce Letter: MWRA state of emergency update

Dear Milton Neighbors,

As I am sure you have heard by now, a major MWRA water pipe in Weston broke on Saturday.  As a result, residents in affected communities, including Milton, must boil their water prior to consumption.  Milton residents should not consume tap water without first boiling it for at least one minute. Please pass this information on to other Milton residents.

The MWRA response to this catastrophe has been swift, but as the Governor has indicated, even in the best case scenario, it is likely to be days before service will be restored.

For the most up to date information regarding the MWRA response, please visit www.mwra.com.

For Boil Water Order Frequently Asked Questions, please visit www.mass.gov/dep/water/drinking/boilfaq.htm.

For information regarding food establishments and general food and beverage preparation, please visit www.mass.gov/dph.

Residents are encouraged to rely on and use boiled water as their primary source before turning to bottled water.

Residents that need bottled water are encouraged to utilize local retail markets.

State officials are working with major distributors and retailers to make sure they are re-stocking their bottled water supplies.

If residents wish to access the most updated information directly, they may also call Mass 211.

Again, please pass on this information to your neighbors so as to ensure that they do not drink tap water without first boiling it for at least one minute.

Feel free to call me at my office (617) 722-1643 or at home (617) 696-0200 or to email me (bjoyce@senate.state.ma.us) with any questions.

Warmest Regards,

Brian A. Joyce
State Senator
