I am Catherine King and I am running for Town Meeting Member from Prectinct 1. My husband, William, and I are Irish Immigrants, from Galway and are the parents of an 8 year old. We have lived in the Boston area since 1987. In the past 10 years, we have built our own business, which supports our family as well as several employees.

Our home on Concord Ave. has fulfilled our desire to live in a diverse, residential town, with a great neighborhood school. I am involved in our Tucker Neighborhood Association and the Tucker School PTO, as well as other community events and activities.

Like many in Milton, I am dedicated to the town and to preserving the unique qualities that make it special.

I promise be actively involved in decision making that will help Milton maintain its excellent quality of life, its public services, its commitment to education and its great amenities.

I believe our quality of life is what defines Milton. It keeps our property values steady. For most of us, our home is our primary asset.

As the parent of a 2nd Grader, our schools and their funding is important to me. I am on the PTO board at Tucker and I have supported any override that has come before the town. I worked actively on the last campaign.

I am supportive of new commercial development but believe it should be consistent with the residential character of the town and should be carefully considered as part of our overall master plan.
