A note about the advertising & letters to the editor

We are pleased and proud to begin running advertisements.

Advertising is a fundamental part of many media efforts. Online it can be just about the most annoying experience imaginable. That will not be the case here.

You will not see pop ups or large ads that hog the screen for two reasons a) it is a poor user experience and b) they do not perform well for the advertiser.

Good advertising can be entertaining and informative. One of the current political campaigns reached out and asked to run an ad. Advertising has been under review for some time, and this was the push we needed to pull the trigger. We welcome the revenue and it gives another, albeit slanted opinion and source of information on a candidate running for an important office here in town.

It is premature for any endorsements. There are three debates still to be heard, and we are hopeful to have  interviews with all the candidates for town wide office. (Please see “A frank talk with Cheryl Tougias” as an example).

Our first ad is a political one. It is not an endorsement of the candidate; rather, it is the candidate’s endorsement of mytownmatters.com, and we are grateful for the support.

If you are interested in advertising opportunities please drop a note to frank@mytownmatters.com or call (617) 615-9470.

Letters to the editor

This is a web publication and all readers are encouraged to comment on posts and express their opinions.

We strongly encourage the use of real full names though anonymous posts are not prohibited. But if you believe in what you say why wouldn’t you put your name to it?

Slanderous and  mean-spirited comments are removed. There were a significant number of comments made to posts about the zoning overlay proposal to the Temple Shalom property. In almost every example people used their true names. Comments were passionate but respectful and served as an illustration of how this medium can promote thoughtful, interactive discussion.

So, if you have an opinion about a candidate or an issue, please feel free to express it. You can comment directly on the post in which their announcement is mentioned or you can write an email to frank@mytownmatters.com and they will be posted in the letters section. We welcome feedback.
