The Boad of Appeals recently approved the request by the developers of 36 Central Avenue to increase the height of the building by an additional 12 inches. This will allow the ceilings in the residential units to be 9 feet.
In discussions with the Planning Board the developers requested the change in height of the residential units to improve their sales potential. Planning Board member Alex Whiteside suggested that they decrease the height of the retail units on the first floor by and apply that to residential units. The board was not willing to increase the net height of the building.
The Appeals Board ruled that the height of the building could be increased by 12 inches. The ceiling height of the commercial spaces on the first floor will be reduced by 18 inches.
The Planning Board will hold an open hearing on amending the special permit for the purpose of changing the change in height at their 3/11 meeting. The meeting will be at the John Cronin Conference Room at Town Hall. The meeting is at 6:30pm. The hearing is scheduled for 7:10pm.
