On December 4th Johnny Cupcakes spoke at an assembly during 3rd and 4th periods at Milton High School. During the presentation, Johnny Cupcakes spoke about his life and how he transformed himself into the successful entrepreneur he is today.

Johnny Cupcakes, like many, started off as an “average Joe.” As a student in school, he always sold things such as candy, whoopee cushions, and things that were appealing to his peers. Selling these products got Johnny into some trouble in school, so he had to stop selling goodies on school grounds.

While working at Newbury Comics in Braintree, MA, Johnny Cupcakes would get made fun of, and called all sort of nick names such as “Johnny Pancakes,” “Johnny Appleseed,” and “Johnny Cupcakes.” One day, Johnny wanted to contribute his humor to all these jokes, and he created a T-shirt specially designed for himself, with the soon-to-be logo printed on it: “Johnny Cupcakes.”

Johnny Cupcakes wore his newly created shirt to work trying to be funny, and that very day changed his life completely. Many people were attracted to his shirt, and would ask if he were selling them. After a while, more and more people wanted Johnny’s shirts. In Johnny Cupcakes’ story, he states “Making those t-shirts quickly became my passion. I found myself pretending to go to the bathroom at work, only to sneak away and sell some t-shirts out the trunk of my beat up 89’ Toyota Camry.”

Today Johnny Cupcakes is extremely successful and has 3 stores in different locations, in Hull, Boston, and Los Angeles. Johnny Cupcakes is inspirational, and a role model to many. Not only is his story motivating, but he is very humble. If you didn’t know who he was at first, you would think he was just another down to earth guy. Thanks to his speech on December 4th, many students were inspired, and want to follow in his footsteps, to one day have their own business.
