News from the Office of Representative Walter F. Timilty
Recently, State Representative Walter F. Timilty filed several amendments to the budget proposal, introduced by the House Ways and Means Committee for Fiscal Year ’16. Fiscal Year ‘16 will commence on July 1, 2015. In short, Representative Timilty is seeking to add several fiscal items to this proposal, which he believes, if adopted, will enhance the quality of life of the residents of the town of Milton. Specifically, Representative Timilty is seeking $5,000,000 in his efforts to defray the costs for the Town of Milton in its’ effort to renovate and reconstruct our antiquated fire-stations. Moreover, he is striving for insertion of language for the Massachusetts General laws mandating an aviation noise-study by the Massachusetts Port Authority for Milton and surrounding communities. Furthermore, this language states, “…The Massachusetts Port Authority…, shall conduct a noise and land use compatibility study… The Authority shall hold biennial public hearings, the first hearing for each county shall be held prior to August 31, 2015, at which members of the public shall have the right to be heard regarding the identification of aircraft noise issues.” In addition, Representative Timilty is seeking $230,000 for sidewalk reconstruction, $2,300,000 for road repair, $500,000 for the Trailside Museum, $100,000 for the maintenance of the Pine Tree Brook, and $485,000 for instillation of the Opticon System. This System will allow Milton Fire Department apparatus to traverse intersections, while responding to emergency calls, safely, in a more rapid fashion. This would be accomplished with the establishment of electronic infrastructure.
Commenting on the budget-process, Timilty stated, “It is my privilege to advocate, in the most strenuous of fashions, during this budget exercise, for funding that will enhance the quality of life for all Miltonians.”
