The Quincy Choral Society concludes its 2014-2015 season with a performance of music celebrating nature. The concert features For the Beauty of the Earth and All Things Bright and Beautiful by John Rutter, Frostiana by Randall Thompson, Songs of Nature by Antonin Dvorak, and Benedicite by Ralph Vaughn Williams. The soloist for Benedicite is Chelsea Beatty, soprano. The concert will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 386 Hancock Street, North Quincy, at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $18.00 and will be available at the door.
Milton residents singing on May 17 include George Corbett, Dwight Dewsnap, Cyndi Fedewa, Adelaide Haynes, Roger Haynes, Ted Hays, Brian Kelley, Martha McMahon, Emma Jean Moulton, Paula Murphy, Mark Ostrem, Deborah Jean Parsons, Sandra Peterson, Kristie Randall, Barbara Stoller, and Sarah Wehle.
Based in Boston, Chelsea Beatty is an active performer, teacher, and arts administrator. Since completing her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2013, Ms. Beatty has enjoyed engagements with Odyssey Opera, Boston Modern Orchestra Project, OperaHub, Juventas New Music Ensemble, Capella Clausura, Opera on Tap Boston, and Boston New Music Initiative. She is a winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in the Colorado/Wyoming District and a finalist in the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition for Colorado Singers. Her opera roles include Mimì in La Bohème, Anne Trulove in The Rake’s Progress, and the title role in Suor Angelica. Ms. Beatty was the soprano soloist for Stella Natalis in Quincy Choral’s December concert.
