Today is election day. You can find sample ballots on the Town Clerk’s web site. If you are not sure what precinct you are in you can find that out out here. Polls are open until 8:00pm.
DON’T OVERLOOK QUESTION 1 – it appears at the bottom of the ballot. You could easily miss it.
In two Milton campaigns that I recall, one Selectman’s seat was taken by just 49 votes and one School Committee seat was taken by less than 5 votes (Frank if you recall the exact number, please edit).
Your vote really does make the difference between the candidate you really want to manage your town services and the candidate you really don’t want to manage your town.
Please exercise your freedom to vote today between 7am to 8pm.
The closest race I am aware of was in 2012 for a seat on the Planning Board. Mike Kelly won over Cheryl Tougias by 7 votes. A recount was requested by Tougias and, based on that count, it was determined Kelly actually won by 10 votes.
In 2002, Chris Huban and Mary Kelly tied before a court overturned one vote and found that Huban won the race. Both went on to serve for long periods on the School Committee.
But the point stands — Get out and vote!
