Notice from Milton Police Dept Facebook page
Good evening,
This has been a busy two days for MPD. As many of you have watched on the evening news, MHS was placed in lockdown late this afternoon after an individual attempted to make entrance.
A quick synopsis of this event is listed here. At NO TIME was any student or staff member in danger. The suspect, who we have in custody is a 19 year old man from Watertown. At around 2pm, he entered the campus on foot and attempted to gain entrance through the main doors.
A determination was made by school office staff that he was not an MHS student. He was turned away. Per protocols, MPD was immediately notified and MPS began a search of the outside campus where he was detected. In the initial encounter with Milton officers, the subject was extremely uneasy, and from his evasiveness and furtive nature with MPD officers, warranted further investigation.
The officers detected a loaded handgun, alcohol, drugs and significant US currency from this man. At the same time officers were continuing to sweep the campus. Milton officers and MPS staff continued with security protocols to maintain school operations. There was some question that this suspect had someone else with him. Given this, as most MHS parents know, a full protective sweep and lockdown was initiated of the MHS campus. This investigation has confirmed the man travelled to MHS on his own. He had no intention to harm anyone and probably never thought MPS staff would notify MPD after he was turned away. He is being held here at MPD tonight on $100,000 bail. He will be arraigned in Quincy District Court tomorrow morning on weapons, narcotics and other charges related offenses. Again, at no time was anyone inside in any danger. Tomorrow morning school will resume normal operations. Thanks for your time and concern.
