Preschool registration is now underway for the Milton Public Schools. There are three separate programs offered by the Milton Public Schools for children age 3-4 years old to attend. Each program has similarities and differences. Families are encouraged to carefully read and understand the basic structure and routine of each program. After reading through the program descriptions, families are asked to complete the pre-registration form which can be found by on the Milton Public Schools homepage (www.miltonps.org) and clicking on the “About” link and the “Student Registration Information” link.
?MPS offers the Integrated Preschool Program at the Collicot Elementary School; the Child Study Pre-Kindergarten Program at Milton High School; and the Kindergarten Readiness Pilot Program at Tucker Elementary School. All programs accept students district-wide.
?Similarities: All three programs will implement a common curriculum-The Creative Curriculum taught by certified teachers. Students in each of these programs will have the opportunity to engage in the core content areas of Math, English Language Arts, Science & Social Studies aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. Social skill building activities are built into activities throughout the school day. All three programs have a small ratio of students to adults and all three programs have unique opportunities to interact with the larger school community. All programs follow the 2015-2016 Milton Public Schools Academic Calendar for Kindergarten students. Finally, all programs require preregistration. Once accepted into a program formal registration will be required. The preregistration form can be found on the MPS homepage under “About” and “Student Registration.”
?Differences: The Integrated Preschool and Child Study Pre-Kindergarten are established programs and have a set tuition. The Kindergarten Readiness Pilot program is in its second year funded by the district Advancement Initiative budget and there is no cost at this time. Special Education services are provided only through the Integrated Preschool Program.
?Please note, if there is high enrollment indicated by pre-registration, programs will hold lotteries. Multiples (twins, triplets, etc.) will be treated as one entry into the lottery but each student will incur an individual tuition cost. Waiting lists will be maintained for each program.
