The Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, led by Music Director, Jin Kim, will present its
Masterworks After Hours: mostly Mozart concert on Saturday, January 31 with featured
soloist, Sam Boutris, unanimous winner of 2014 ASO Concerto Competition. Sam returns to
perform Mozart’s beloved Clarinet Concerto with his Basset clarinet, built specifically for
performing Mozart’s concerto. The Basset clarinet is a clarinet similar to the usual soprano
clarinet, but longer and with additional keys to enable playing several additional lower notes.
Haydn’s joyful “Morning” solo symphony and Mozart’s “Little Gminor” symphony complete
the program. A fun and cool “After Hours” party will follow this mostly Mozart program
when the audience may meet and mingle with the concert musicians.
Sam, a Fort Worth, Texas native, is a graduate of the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music, in
Philadelphia. He has performed with the Fort Worth Orchestra, the Forth Worth Symphony
Orchestra and has competed in the esteemed Buffer Crampon International Clarinet
Competition.
“The Atlantic Symphony Orchestra offers an incredibly high caliber of classical music to
suburban Boston. Our concert ‘home’ at the Center for the Arts at Thayer Academy allows us
to attract discerning audiences from Boston and the South Shore. We are fortunate to have
another stellar soloist, Sam Boutris, perform with us,” notes Kate LaVigne of the ASO.
Tickets are $43 for adults/$38 for seniors/$20 for U30/$10 for U20. Tickets may be
purchased via phone 781.331.3600, online at www.atlanticsymphony.org or on the night of
the performance at the Center for the Arts.
