from Wicked Local Milton
Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton has received a $249,000 grant for training health care providers through a partnership with Blue Hills Regional Technical School and the South Shore Workforce Investment Board. (Read the full story here.)
This area is fortunate to have BI/D in our area.
Steward Medical, the owners of the now closed Quincy Hospital, are apparently the antithesis of Beth Israel/Deaconess. They did everything they could to drive both doctors and their patients away from Quincy Hospital. Apparently, the for profit group cared more for the bottom line than the ability to deliver quality medical services. Doctors did not want to go there and therefore neither did their patients. Sort of a twist on the famous quote from ” Field of Dreams” : ‘ If they build it they won’t come….’
Too bad. Quincy Hospital had over a 100 year history of serving the community. I believe there is or was a large engraved plaque with many of the names of the outstanding physicians who were associated with Quincy Hospital over the decades. Sad, that has become a headstone to bad hospital management in the 21’st Century. Perhaps, it will be resurrected. Wonder if it could become an affiliate to Milton BI/D.
