We ripped this off of Representative Cullinane’s Facebook page (hopefully he won’t mind). Yesterday was the groundbreaking for Greenway extension (see related post here). He leads his post with a great quote. Here is Rep Cullinane’s post:
“This is so much more than just a path for walking or biking. This is the realization of a vision of connecting our communities to one another.”
Two more milestones for Mattapan this morning at the groundbreaking for the Neponset Greenway Expansion connecting Mattapan Square to Central Avenue thus allowing Mattapan to connect with the rest of the Neponset Greenway! And then at the ribbon cutting for the new Kennedy Playground on Edgewater Drive!
Proud to join Secretary Maeve Vallely Bartlett, DCR Commissioner Jack Murray, Senator Linda Dorcena Forry, Senator Brian A. Joyce, and Russell Holmes along with the dedicated community activists of the Neponset River Greenway Council and Boston Natural Area Network who worked for over 20 years to make this day a reality.
— with Brian A. Joyce and 3 others.
A terrific event; kudos to Governor Patrick and his team for moving this forward over the past year; it’s been a long time in the making!
