On December 11th, the 5th and 6th grade at St. Mary of the Hills had the exciting opportunity to attend a field trip to Gillette Stadium! Students viewed a special movie on the history of the New England Patriots and explored the Patriots Hall of Fame.
The highlight of the trip was an interactive museum, where students were able to dress in the NFL players’ actual uniforms, practice their field goal kicks, test their reaction time, and climb aboard one of the Duck Boats that the Patriots rode on in their Super Bowl victory parades!
After lunch at Red Robin in Patriots Place, the SMH students worked with the Patriots Education Coordinator, Katie C, to design their own NFL team. The exercise was used to practice their math skills in budgeting what NFL players they could draft on their teams, and what special elements they could afford for their stadium. Each group was assigned a special role such as Team Manager, Owner, Public Relations Director, Financing Director, and Chief Information Officer. The groups then presented their teams to a panel of chaperones in the actual Patriots Red Level Press Room! The field trip was exciting, educational, and the students can’t wait to go back next year!
Here some photos of the trip.
