The old adage goes that everybody has to be somewhere. Apparently, Ted is here. Early yesterday morning while out on my jog I noticed some folks surveying the Hoosic Club and a very large truck parked nearby. Today there are tents up at both the Hoosic and Turners Pond. There is a parking ban on Central Ave and a production crew is toiling away. Rumor has it that TED 2 will be shooting here this week. The sequel to TED has been filming in the Boston area this past summer. Milton is a great place to wrap it all up.
The film by Seth MacFarlane features Mark Wahlberg, Morgan Freeman and an R-rated teddy bear.
It also looks like the town will be granted a liquor license for East Milton Square. The Falconi Company which is renovating the East Milton Theater, is seeking the license in support of their intent to put a restaurant in the space. They had expressed concern about obtaining the license as it is critical for a restaurant and the timing was also a concern. If they are unable to secure a license they are likely to pursue developing an apartment building at the location. However, it appears the license will come through. According to the Massachusetts legislature’s bill tracking web site, Bill H.4191 received a second reading, was amended, received a third reading, and was passed by the Senate to be engrossed. It has already been engrossed by the House. These are the primary hurdles. Once engrossed by both houses the bill is enacted and moves to the Governor for his signature. The site does not state what the amendment was; but it is reasonable to expect the bill to now move quickly which will be good news for those who hope to see Milton’s commercial area stay commercial.
