At last week’s public forum on a Housing Production Plan it came up that the proposed 40B development on Brush Hill Road may not “go forward.” The reason for this is that there are no contracts with homeowners whose land was proposed for the development and at least one of the properties is on the open market.
Mill Creek, a developer of high end apartments, was seeking to assemble a large lot of Brush Hill Road by purchasing 3 properties. They had tentative agreement with homeowners, had filed an application and received a letter of eligibility to file for a comprehensive permit before the Milton Board of Appeals.
The proposal had received stiff opposition from abutting homeowners, Fuller Village, and non-profit organizations (NepRWA, the Mary Wakefield Charitable Trust) concerned with the environmental impacts to Fowl Meadow which has been designated as an area of environmental concern and sever traffic congestion on Brush Hill Road. Senator Brian A. Joyce and Representative Walter Timilty were also in opposition to the development.
It has been rumored that Mill Creek was in negotiation with another firm to take on the development. That is unconfirmed and somewhat moot as one of the homes is now on the market.
It was mentioned at the session that a second home is expected to go on the market sometime this month. The land has not been secured for the development. Mr. Whiteside, Chair of the Planning Board, said the development was questionable to proceed.
Maybe the Town should consider buying one of these properties with the goal of resale at some point.
Then the Town would have a say in what happens , development wise, in that part of Town.
