Frequently asked questions about the Milton Cultural Council’s work and granting process will be answered at an “Information Night” on Wednesday, September 10. Members of the council will present an overview of the grant application process, some guidelines for submitting an effective application, and a brief history of the Massachusetts funded organization and its purposes. The public and cultural organizations interested in applying for grants for the 2014-2015 cycle are encouraged to attend. The meeting, to be held in the Milton Public Library will begin promptly at 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
Grants are given out to local cultural organizations and individuals to present programs or projects in performing arts, visual arts, and interpretive sciences. Grant projects may address any age group from children to seniors using a wide variety of formats, interests and organizations. Grant applications must be postmarked by October 15. Applications are available on line at www.mass-culture.org.
Last year, awards were given to Collicot, Cunningham, Glover and Tucker Public School PTOs, Milton Players, Milton Performing Arts, Milton Art Center, Fuller Craft Museum, Friends of the Milton Public Library, Forbes House Museum and Janet Applefield for “Combating Hate” and Duane Sullivan for “Music for Seniors.”
