It’s an all-day marathon of mystery movies on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Keys Community Room (lower level) of the Milton Library, 476 Canton Avenue in Milton. The free event is part of the Milton Reads project to get the entire community reading The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes or one of its stories, such as “The Speckled Band.”
9:30-10:00 a.m. It’s a Mystery, Charlie Brown (1974) Starring the Peanuts cast. 24 min. When Woodstock’s nest mysteriously disappears, Snoopy plays detective in order to find it.
10:15-11:15 am The Red-Headed League (The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: Season 2, Episode 5) starring Jeremy Brett. What seems at first to be a harmless prank played upon a redheaded man is soon revealed to be much more: a sinister scheme devised by?the Napoleon of Crime. 60 min.
11:30 a.m. -1:05 p.m. Bring your lunch to the library!! Clue (1985) starring Eileen Brennan, Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn. Six guests are invited to a strange house and must cooperate with the staff to solve a murder mystery. 94 min.
1:20 – 2:45 p.m.?The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1939) starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce as Sherlock Holmes and his companion Doctor Watson as they attempt to foil their archenemy Professor Moriarty who plots to commit the theft of the (19th) century, the theft of the Crown Jewels. 85 min.
3:00 p.m. – 4:20 p.m. The Great Mouse Detective (1986). Basil, the Rodent Sherlock Holmes, investigates the kidnapping of a toy maker and uncovers its link to his archenemy Professor Ratigan.
4:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. The Woman in Green (1946) with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. Sherlock investigates the murder of 4 young women – Scotland Yard suspects a madman, but Holmes believes the killings are part of a diabolical plot.
6:30 p.m. – 7:45 p.m.?The Speckled Band (1984) starring Jeremy Brett. (The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: Season 1, Episode 6) A young woman asks for Holmes’ help when her ill-tempered stepfather moves her into the same room where her sister died under mysterious circumstances. 60 min.
