I sympathize with those Milton residents who have their peace disturbed by illegal fireworks and I trust the Milton Police will take action where they can.

Still, the major case of Disturbing the Peace comes not from Mattapan but from Logan Airport.

This weekend those of us under the final approach to Runway 4 Right, the longest and only fully instrument landing runway at Logan, have suffered an unending barrage of airplane noise and jet fuel pollution .

This violation of Disturbing The Peace started late Friday night and has continued late into the early morning of Saturday and Sunday without stopping. At times the planes are flying in with only 10 to 15 seconds apart. I actually timed them.

Time to file a criminal complaint against MassPort, the FAA and all offending airlines for Disturbing The Peace. If they were noisy motorcycles or noisy 18 wheel trucks creating this noise in front of our doors those offenders would not be able to get away with Disturbing The peace.

Why should MassPort, the FAA and the offending airlines be given an exemption from the ordinances against Disturbing The Peace? The answer they should not and this can no longer be allowed to continue.

Criminal proceedings against these offenders must begin now !
