Milton Girls Softball (MGS) is pleased to announce Milton seniors Juliann Cosetta and Julia Moore are this year’s scholarship recipients. MGS started a scholarship program in 2013 to be awarded annually to two seniors that have participated in the MGS for a minimum of four years and are planning to continue their education. This scholarship is a one-time award to assist with finances of college, vocational school or any enlisted branch of the US Armed Forces.
Both girls were presented the award at the Milton High award banquet and were honored to be chosen out of many candidates. Juliann Cosetta wrote about the skills she has learned playing softball such as confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, working hard, and what it means to never give up. “Not only have I learned skills that I will use in my future softball career, but I have learned valuable life lessons that I will carry with me on this new and exciting journey.”
Julia Moore wrote about lessons learned while playing softball such as building long lasting friendships, how to work well with others, how to handle challenges, how to keep a positive attitude, and having a commitment to your team. “I believe Milton Girls Softball has prepared me for the future…I do not think I would have developed so many useful skills without softball…and the softball field was and still is my home away from home.”
Applications for next year’s scholarship will be posted online at the start of the 2015 softball season. Milton Girls Softball is an independent, non-profit organization committed to providing all girls with an experience that fosters positive self-esteem, team spirit and individual growth through personal achievement and team play.
Our goal is for each player to have fun while gaining knowledge of the game. We endeavor to create and maintain an environment of teamwork, honesty, and fair play with a secondary importance place on winning.
