Milton’s two garden clubs had displays at the Museum of Fine Arts annual display of Art in Bloom. It is the MFA’s way to welcome spring. Here are the contributions. Click on an image for a larger view. Click “Read more” for additional info.
. . . TheThe arrangements are styled after a piece of artwork. (Unfortuantely, I did not think to take a shot of the work the arrangements were based on.)
The photos do not do the arrangements justice. Both were stunning and if you are unfamiliar with the show you should pencil it in for next year. Garden clubs from throughout the Boston area make contributions. Their were guides to the exhibit; one speaking on the arrangement, flowers used etc and the other speaking to the original art work.
Calla Lilys were all the rage this year! They were in both of Milton’s arrangement as was Kangaroo Paw, my personal favorite. You can never have too much Kangaroo Paw. Kidding aside, it was a great event and it was wonderful to see Milton’s contributions. Cedar Grove also had a beautiful piece (see below).
The Milton Garden Club arrangement was done by Cat Malone with assistance from Joan Faulkner. It consisted of Calla Lily, Fiddlehead, Hypericum, Kangaroo Paw, Phlox, Protea, Rose, and Willo.
The Amateur Garden Club of Milton arrangement was done by Kristine Doherty with assistance from Brigid O’Donnell. It consisted of Alstroemeria, Berzelia, Calla Lily, Chrysanthemum, Fiddlehead, Kiwi Vine, Hypericum, Kangaroo paw (my personal favorite), Leucadendron, Protea, Waxflower, and Yarrow.
Here is the piece by Cedar Grove – the photo also has the work it was derived from (i.e. the rooster) Note how they captured the rooster’s tail. Pretty cool stuff.
