Local lawmakers are backing a state budget amendment that would provide $100,000 in additional money to the Blue Hill Observatory and Science Center, the oldest continuously operating weather observatory in the United States.

“If we don’t support the Blue Hills financially, it might fritter away and fall victim to neglect, and we can’t let that happen,” Rep. Walter Timilty, D-Milton, told news partner The Patriot Ledger. (Read the full story here.)
