Yesterday marked the first running of the Run for Red Nation and it was quite an affair that promises to be a new and great Milton tradition. The 5K fun run and walk was organized by MHS senior Brendan Hunt. Kieran Condon of Milton finished first for men with a time of 17:11 and Lauren Carey of Marshfield was the first woman to cross the finish with a time of 22:15. But there’s more. . .
The first MHS student to finish was John Lenane. The first female MHS student to finish was Mairead Dambruch who almost nipped Ms. Carey with a time of 22:19. You can find complete results here. And then there is Hugo.
There was an award for Top Dog, which I had my heart set on until I learned that . . . you had to be a dog to qualify. I found finishing the race on two legs enough of a challenge. I wasn’t about to try running on all fours. Hugo on the other hand was up to the task.
It was a wonderful community event that will hopefully become part of Milton’s road race calendar. Brendan Hunt deserves tremendous credit for organizing the race. It took a lot of work. The race was a benefit for Milton High School’s activities, clubs, and sports and Mr. Hunt in an email said he was happy to inform all that the $10,000 may have been exceeded. Congrats all!
Here are some photos from the event.
