Sustainable Milton and Milton DPW will be hosting Milton Clean-Up Day again this year on Saturday May 3th, 2014 (formerly Milton Green Day). School groups, sports teams, neighborhood associations, town clubs, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops and church/temple groups are encouraged to sign up now to take part in this great town-wide event. This is an opportunity to ascend on areas around town that need a good spring cleaning and make Milton beautiful.
DPW will provide garbage and recycle bags and work gloves. If a group cannot work on Saturday, they are more than welcome to schedule their clean-up work on Friday May 2 or Sunday May 4. The Milton DPW crews will finish the job starting on Monday May 5 by collecting all of the garbage and recyclables and hauling it away.
As in the past, some groups will spend an hour on a busy street corner, while others tackle a whole forest. Hundreds of Milton neighbors will be working – collecting garbage, recyclables and removing brush. Some groups, like the Pine Tree Brook Neighborhood Association, will take advantage of having neighbors together, share a BBQ and reconnect after a long winter.
It’s not too late to start organizing your group and choosing your area to clean up. Please contact miltoncleanup@gmail.com or facebook ‘Milton clean up day’ to sign up. (Individuals looking to join an existing group are also encouraged to sign up.) Please make sure to RSVP for your group so we know where to direct DPW for Monday morning pick-up.
It is sure to be a fun day for a good cause!
