St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Milton is hosting a series of open forums focusing on the similarities and differences between the Episcopal/Anglican tradition and the Roman Catholic tradition. During the forums, participants will explore the fabled Henry VIII and his separation from Rome, the mystery of the shared Catholic faith, and the substantive differences in structures and moral authority in each church. The forums are led by the Rev. Harold R. Bronk (Ray), retired professor of the Study of Religion at UMass Boston, and the Rev. Dr. Joyce Caggiano. The discussions are open to the public and participants are invited to bring questions. Each session is independent and meets the following Sundays in St. Michael’s Lower Parish Hall, 112 Randolph Ave. in Milton at 11:30 a.m.

Sunday, March 16 – Structures & Authority

In this forum participants will learn about the Episcopal/Anglican church and the Roman Catholic church’s similar theology, but different structures and authority.

Sunday, March 23 – Instruments of Change

Explore the church’s effect and influence in the world, how the Roman Curia differs from the English/American Episcopate, and how moral decisions are made in each religious tradition.

Sunday, March 30 – Ecumenical Relationships Today

Explore the ARCIC Document which was developed in the 1980’s in an effort towards Christian Unity.
