Joe Lynch and his workers are to be commended for trying to inform as many people as possible about the changes due to the storm. This eliminates a lot of confusion we have seen in past storms. This is a well run department with people who care about our town.

This seems to be a greater problem than that caused by a minimal snow storm.

Waste Management has demonstrated over the past 6 months or more a record of poor service and missed pick-ups.

They started out okay but I wonder if Waste Management has extended itself too far and reduced personnel at the same time. Wonder if this is basically a labor issue.

Nonetheless, Waste Management is under contract with the town of Milton and if it cannot fulfill its agreement with the town some action must be taken beyond making excuses for them. The DPW is not in the business of protecting Waste Management…or are they ?

The facts are that they have fulfilled the contract. You are obviously referring to the week we had a holiday on Tuesday and a huge snowstorm on Thurs. They ended up fulfilling their obligations to the town for that week, but because it was 2 days of inaction, not until the following Monday! Then that week they went to Saturday.
I bet every other firm in the business had the same problem.
I see other firms that have contracts in some surrounding towns provide the big barrels that people use. Someone told me the companies give them out. I think we should really look at what we could gain for households in the next contract.

Just for reference. The trash and recyclables in Quincy were picked up today on schedule.
