The Master Plan Committee met last night at the Council on Aging to discuss the strategy, steps, timeline, and communication around the second phase of Milton’s Master Plan. Municipalities in the Commonwealth are required by law to have a master plan that guides the town’s development. Areas of focus include housing, traffic, historic preservation, economic development, open space, and public services.
The committee completed phase 1,the Visioning phase, last year. Information and results of that can be found here.
As with phase 1, the second phase is dependent on input and buy in from entire community and all town departments. The goal is to have a document that serves as a blue print to identify areas of focus for development (if any), what that development like look like, whether housing or commercial, and what characteristics of the town need to be maintained and preserved.
The committee discussed the logistics of the plan including but not limited to channels of communication with town departments and the community, subcommittees to focus on key elements, and schedule of community forums and deliverables
The first forum will be held on March 1 at Fuller Village. All residents are encouraged to attend.
The Master Plan committee will be launching a web site and the information will be linked from the Town of Milton’s web site. MyTownMatters and other media outlets will be publishing the schedule of events as they are made available.
