Yesterday afternoon at around 1:00 pm, a resident of the 100 block of Central Ave., called 911 to report that a man unknown to her had appeared at her back door. When she confronted him, he portrayed that he was “looking for directions, allegedly, for Milton Academy.” After giving him directions, she observed him walk away from her home in the totally opposite direction.” Her next move would prove to be decisive. By calling 911, several units responded and located this man walking on Central Ave. His story was evasive and his pockets appeared to be stuffed with personal property.
During the initial inquiry, officers discovered that this man had an active felony arrest warrant for receiving stolen property in Boston. He was arrested and officers recovered thousands of dollars in Italian currency on his person as well as other assorted stolen personal property. Subsequent investigation confirmed him as the man who had approached the female resident. Officers also determined during this investigation, that this man had broken into a home in the 200 block of Central Ave. This home in close proximity to the initial victims home. Milton Investigators recovered significant physical evidence at this crime location. The suspect was also charged with (3) felonies for this crime, Malicious Damage, B&E Daytime w/intent to commit a felony, and Receiving Stolen Property over $250 (felony)
This case once again illustrates the success that comes from a single phone call to MPD. This man has been removed from the street. The key to this quick arrest was the resident who made the call. Well done. Excellent effort by a citizen and the officers of the MPD.
