Notice from the Milton Police Department
Wednesday evening, we had an attempted housebreak on Rowe St. in East Milton. The perpetrator(s) were unable to gain entry because the home was “locked and dead bolted.” No one in the area saw anything, but we again emphasize locking all doors and windows. This often frustrates potential thieves and they will look elsewhere for targets.
Last night just around 11:30, officers responded to a burglar alarm at a home on the 100 block of Canton Ave. Investigating officers discovered entry had been made by breaking a rear window, which triggered the alarm. The home was not occupied at the time. We believe the alarm thwarted he efforts of the suspects. MPD set up a large perimeter in the neighborhood through the night, and brought in K9 assistance from Quincy PD, but no sign of the perpetrators was found.
On a positive note, MPD secured an arrest warrant for a South Boston man for a break-in into a residence on Adams St. back in July of 2010. Part of the success in breaking this two year old case came by way of a DNA match linking this suspect to the crime.
In a second matter, The Norfolk District Attorneys office has advised us that a Randolph man arrested by Milton officers for a house break on Hilltop St. back in January, has received a 9 year sentence in state prison. This effort came as a result of a 911 call and the collective efforts by many Milton officers who pursued and arrested this suspect as he fled from the crime. The DA’s office commended all of the officers involved for their quick response and capture of this felon.
As always we appreciate your calls. We are having success in these cases and as this post indicates, many of these investigations/prosecutions take considerable time and effort. Thank you for your patience and calls.
