Some local leaders say cities, towns should set caps on liquor licenses

This article does not mention Milton but the issue pertains to Milton which not too long ago was (almost) completely dry. Now we have 88 Wharf, Abby Park, Steel & Rye, and recently Mr. Chan met with the Selectmen about a liquor license. Milton like town’s referenced in the article follows the home rule petition process.

Marshfield selectmen had a decision to make. The town had one available beer and wine license, and two supermarkets – Roche Bros. and Star Market – competing for it. “It was a very difficult decision,” Selectmen Chairman Stephen Robbin said. “We have two great businesses in town, and they both employ a lot of people.
