During the month of September, the Milton Public Library will host artist Karen Dewhirst in the Wotiz Gallery on the first floor. Ms. Dewhirst, a Milton resident for the last 20 years, solders with copper and lead, recycling vintage lamps and creating the handmade shades out of bottles, plates and stained glass sheets which she fits for chandeliers, floor and table lamps.
During the winter of 2012, she began working with stained glass mosaics and she founded the Mixed Media Art Cart Association in 2012. She received her training from the famed Mudflat studio in Somerville, MA and worked doing art therapy for a rehabilitation center in South Boston where she grew up. She travels frequently to Europe to source the latest art trends and recently joined Boston College High School’s art team where she continues to expand her experience in her role as Art Liaison. There will be an open reception for this exhibit on Thursday, September 12th from 6-8 PM in the Wotiz Gallery. Please join us.
