News release from St. Michael’s Episcopal Church
Registration now open for college prep program benefiting students in Milton and neighboring community
St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Milton is partnering with Episcopal City Tutoring (ECT) to offer individualized SAT prep to local students preparing for college entrance exams. The test prep program, which begins this August, offers students high-quality one-on-one tutoring at competitive rates. In addition, students help make a positive impact on their community as all profits provide tutoring for students at Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester.
“At St. Michael’s, our mission includes assisting and serving those in our community,” said the Reverend Hall Kirkham of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church. “Young people are our future, and we’re pleased to host ECT’s top-notch tutoring program at our church so that every student, regardless of finances, has the opportunity to improve test scores and gain access to higher education.”
ECT is a non-profit collaborative of Massachusetts-based education professionals, churches and schools. The prep course curriculum is non-religious and focuses only on SAT preparation for English and math. A student or family need not have any church affiliation to register for classes.
Tutors at the program are qualified educators and experienced with helping students prepare for standardized tests. The one-on-one tutoring allows teachers to focus on a student’s unique needs and challenges, and communicate the most helpful strategies in a way that makes sense to the student. Tutors are also equipped to work with students that have special needs.
