Late this morning, one could only imagine their fear when this elderly gentlemen slipped away from his home unnoticed.

For the members of the MPD, we realized long ago that these type missing person situations can present a real threat to the victim. Fortunately, we have become good at managing these events when they do happen. As we posted earlier, this situation ended very well. Mr. Worrell has been reunited with his family.

Tonight however, we wanted to thank the many residents of this area tonight who mobilized, gave up a beautiful Sunday afternoon and aggressively helped in searching for this missing person. Officer Patti Mandeville, who was one of the first responding officers, commented tonight how impressed she was by the extraordinary effort residents took, searching on foot , by bike and car. They searched many areas of the community in an attempt to find this victim before something terrible might occur.

All of the officers involved in todays operation want you to know we are proud of and each and every one of you who took the time today to try and find Mr. Worrell. Praise is something that we often find lacking in society, so we THANK YOU for your efforts today…well done!
