One hundred and fifty-eight runners finished the M.A., Scramble, a 5.1 mile race that begins and ends at the Pierce School. It spins around Turner’s Pond, down School and up Canton Ave ( a hill that feels like it will never end), before finishing with a leg that takes runners by Pope”s Pond. Dana De Ingenis of Quincy was first woman to finish with a time of 33:16. Lee Danforth of Norwood finished first of the men to finish with a time of 27:30.
Jason Cakouros was the first Miton runner to finish (third place) and Alexandra Schmidt was the first Milton woman to finish (second place for women, 29th overall). You can find complete results here.
It was a cool, humid evening; but a fun run and a festive time. Lieutenant Pauline Wells sang the National Anthem, Representative Timilty blew the horn, and the runners took off. The race ended with a cook out and silent auction. The race is run in the memory of Detective Michael A. Devin and supports a memorial fund in his name. Proceeds from the race fund scholarships, support juvenile athletic programs, and provide assistance to families in need.
