Karen Cahill has been hired as the new Director of Guidance for Milton High School.
Ms. Cahill has been with the Milton Public Schools since 1993. She began her career at the Pierce Middle School where she served as both a math teacher and later a guidance counselor. She then moved to Milton High School where she has served as a guidance counselor since 2009. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Boston College, a Master of Counseling degree from UMass/Boston; and a Master of School Administration from Framingham State College. Ms. Cahill will begin this position effective July 1, 2013.
“Karen is a very capable, intelligent, task-oriented individual who understands student and staff needs,” said Milton High School Principal James Jette. “She is effective and efficient and I know she will work very well with parents, guardians, students and colleagues. I have no doubt that she will do an excellent job as Director of Guidance.”
The following individuals served on the Guidance Director Screening Committee: Milton High School Principal James Jette, Vice Principal Yolanda Beech, Mathematics Department Head Courtney Walsh; and counselor/teacher representatives Leonice Bernard, Karen Hughes, and Larry Jordan.
Ms. Cahill will be replacing Ken Aubert, who announced his retirement this spring.
“Karen Cahill has been an outstanding teacher, guidance counselor and leader in the Milton Public Schools for the past 17 years,” said Assistant Superintendent John Phelan. “Her dedication and expertise will serve her and the students of Milton High well.”
