Thomas Lawton, attorney for Dale Snyder, entered a plea of not guilty today in Quincy District Court. Mr. Snyder, a chemistry teacher and girls track coach at Milton High School, has been charged with one count of indecent assault and two counts of assault and battery. Mr Snyder appeared in court in a red polo shirt, dark slacks, and handcuffs.
Among other charges, it is a alleged that Mr. Snyder attempted to kiss a student on June 2nd after which he gave her a ride home, dropping her off at the end of her street. In filing his plea Mr. Lawton, whose practice is in Brockton, told the judge that Mr Snyder had a medical condition. When asked by the judge, he said Mr Snyder suffered from Parkinson’s and was on medication. He said that a heightened libido and poor impulse control were side effects.
Outside the court, Mr. Lawton said his client was not guilty, was affected by his disease, and that his first concern was for the student and her family.
Mr. Snyder was released on $10,000 bail. He must stay away from Milton High School and people under the age of 18. He is scheduled to reappear on August 26th.
