Cronin garden to be featured in Garden Conservancy’s open tour

The gardens of John and Maritta Cronin at 130 Wendell Park have been selected for an open tour Saturday, June 8 from 10 AM to 4 PM. The gardens are in the national Garden Conservancy “Open Days Program” for 2013 for the Greater Boston area. The Conservancy’s mission is to preserve exceptional gardens for the education and enjoyment of the public. Since 1995 nearly 3,000 private gardens have been visited by close to nearly one million visitors.

Other open Milton gardens that day include the Whitney estate, opposite Milton Hospital at 59 Highland Street owned by Richard and Georgia Lee, an original Olmsted design; the Forbes House Museum; the Milton Garden Club’s Spalding Garden on Fletcher Steele Way; and the 22 acre Wakefield Estate at 1465 Brush Hill Road which is celebrating Dogwood Days with over 300 Kousa Dogwoods in bloom.

A donation of five dollars at each garden will benefit the Wakefield education program.
