This summer, Milton teens and pre-teens will dig deep with the Milton Public Library’s teen summer reading club; this year’s theme is “Beneath the Surface”! The club offers teens a chance to earn prizes by keeping track of their summer reading. Registration for the club, Beneath the Surface, opens June 10 and can be completed online here or in person at the library. In order to participate, teens will keep track of how many pages they read. Participants earn prizes at four levels: 250 pages, 500 pages, 750 pages, and 1000 pages. Teens who are listening to audio books or reading material that is unpaged (graphic novels, manga, ebooks, or online content) can count minutes instead of pages. Teens can track their progress online or in a Beneath the Surface booklet, which can be picked up at the Reference Desk starting June 10. Everyone who completes the program by reading 1000 pages between June and August will win a $10 Barnes and Noble gift card and be entered into a grand prize drawing for a $100 gift card to Barnes and Noble!
The other part of Beneath the Surface is a summer full of programs for Milton teens and pre-teens! Join Emily Calkins, the Young Adult Librarian, every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. (starting June 18) for a special program. Events include a t-shirt craft (June 25), a screening of Perks of Being A Wallflower (July 2), and a workshop with comic book and anime artists Andy and Veronica Fish (August 6). The library will host a teen yoga series on Wednesday mornings in July and the teen book club will continue to meet during the summer. Please check the event calendar on the library website (www.miltonlibrary.org) to see the complete schedule!
