David Claypoole Johnston watercolor donated to Milton Historical Society

News release from the Milton Historical Society

At the Suffolk Resolves Open House held Sunday, April 14, Milton Historical Society member Richard Kenworthy donated to the Milton Historical Society a framed watercolor by David Claypoole Johnston described as “View Between Dorchester and Milton, Massachusetts”. David Claypoole Johnston (1798-1865) was the first natively trained American to master all the various graphic arts processes of lighography, etching, metal plate engraving, and wood engraving. He is also well known for his landscape and portrait paintings.
