The Milton Garden Club Invites All to “A Spring Celebration of Milton and its Many Jewels”

The Milton Garden Club invites the public to view its In-House Flower Show to be hosted by Galatea Fine Jewelry, 60 Adams Street (3rd Floor) on Friday, April 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, April 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. celebrating spring in Milton and the floral and photographic creativity of its membership.

The Show features four classes of floral arrangements; “Shades of Jade in the Great Blue Hill”, “A Jewel from Galatea”, “Gems of the Earth from Milton Community Gardens”, and “Pearls of Wisdom”. Three classes of photography will also be on display; “Spring Gems”, “Diamond in the Rough”, and “Multi-faceted Jewels”.

The Show’s arrangements and photography will be officially judged by the Garden Club of America whose Flower Show mission is to set standards of artistic and horticulture excellence, to broaden the knowledge of flower arranging and photography, and to share the beauty of the Show with the public.

Screen Shot 2013-03-23 at 7.45.11 AMThe “Shades of Jade” will feature arrangements inspired by the many greens of the Blue Hills. Arrangements interpreting a jeweled bib will be on view from “A Jewel from Galatea” class, and the “Gems of the Earth” interpretations will include a floral design with a fruit and/or vegetable component. The “Pearls of Wisdom” arrangements are modeled upon the Museum of Fine Arts “Art in Bloom” pairing with floral interpretations of paintings by local Milton artists Elva Proctor, Beth Neville, and Joyce Caggiano. “Spring Gems” will depict views of early appearing blooms, and “Diamond in the Rough” will showcase monochromatic photography of perceived ‘jewels”. “Multi-faceted Jewels” will portray close up images of plants and flowers.

Galatea will be hosting a complimentary Tea on Saturday, April 13 from 1-4 p.m. during the Show.

The “Pearls of Wisdom” arrangements and the paintings by the three Milton artists will be available for additional viewing at the Milton Art Center’s April 13 Opening Reception at 334 Edge Hill Road following the close of the Milton Garden Club In-House Show.
