Milton middle school teacher Jeff Stoodt offers up a new monthly film series in 2013 featuring famous male actors throughout the years. There will be a fun movie screened each month, starting January 17th, and Jeff will also give a trivia quiz with prizes for the winners. Here are the upcoming titles:
- January 17th It Happened One Night (1934)
- February 28th In A Lonely Place (1950)
- March 21st The Snows of Kilamanjaro (1952)
- April 11th Cool Hand Luke (1967)
The January film, 1934’s It Happened One Night, was the first film to win all five major Academy Awards (Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenplay). The movie was a sensation, not only because of its risqué scenes (Clark Gable undressing for bed; Colbert showing off her shapely leg), but for the incredible screwball comedic energy between Gable and Claudette Colbert. She plays an heiress who, after having her marriage annulled by her father, runs away to meet up with her new spouse. But then she runs into Gable, an out-of-work reporter, who gets her to agree to give him the exclusive on the story.
