News release from the Milton Police Department
This evening at approximately 4:55pm., a marked Milton patrol unit was leaving Milton Police Headquarters located at 40 Highland St. As he exited he observed several cars stopped on Highland St between the police driveway and the Highland St. secondary driveway to Beth Israel Deaconess medical Center/Milton. BID Milton is located directly next to Milton PD at 92 Highland St.
Upon investigation the officer observed a body lying in the middle of the roadway. The victim had been struck by a jeep sedan that was travelling north bound on Highland St. towards Mattapan.
The victim was a female, she was face down with major trauma, in traumatic arrest. Responders worked frantically to save the woman who was taken directly into the Emergency Room at BIDMC. The victim was pronounced dead shortly after.
The female victim is a longtime Milton resident. She is 78 years old. Milton Police and a Reconstructionist from the Mass State Police are on the scene presently. At the time of the accident, it was dusk and raining lightly, It appears that at the time she was struck, the victim was in the middle of the roadway.
Milton PD is withholding the victim’s identification pending notification of the family. No charges have been filed at this time and speed does not appear to be a factor in the accident.
