As you may have heard an arbitrator has drafted a decision regarding the town’s placing a wind turbine on town owned property. The folks that own the Granite Links Golf Course objected to the turbine. The turbine will play havoc with their patrons’ golf swing and enjoyment of the game. But there are some other really bad things that can happen as the following video make clear.
A reader brought this report to our attention and highlights why we can all breathe a sigh of relief that those blades will likely be stilled. The selectmen are awaiting a final word. At a recent meeting Chairman Hurley announced that Rich Kleinman, who chaired the Wind Turbine committee, had resigned upon learning of the arbitrator’s decision. The draft ruling would prevent the turbine from operating while the course is open. The selectmen will revisit the numbers to see if the project is still financially feasible given that restriction. The town is going to lose a significant amount of revenue as a result. In the meantime here is some comic relief.

Dog legs left, dog legs right, sand traps, bunkers, water hazards, narrow fairways that fall off into granite quarrys , rock piles with rattle snakes, steep hills with frequent high winds, lightning, methane gas from land fill, coyotes, high speed golf balls shanked, sliced, hooked, the occasional thrown golf club and out of control golf cart and we are worried about the perils of a wind turbine? I must be missing something.

Great point by Steve F. How about putting it on the “surplus” land off of granite ave. There is another turbine at the 103 hall next to the expressway so this one would be a no brainer.
The wind committee studied multiple sites and the site at the old town dump was the windest spot. The “surplus land” is not owned by the town
