Fontbonne Academy hosted the second annual “Dancing with the Fontbonne Stars” on Saturday, November 10, at Fontbonne. The gymnasium was transformed into a grand ballroom and guests were mesmerized by the exquisite dancing, costumes, and drama of the event. Professional dancers were paired with members of the Fontbonne community and competed in the hustle, cha-cha, lindy hop, swing, salsa, tango and group tango. Emcees were Fontbonne parents Bill Callahan of Bridgewater and Rita Senier of Quincy. The intrepid dancers were Marta Fasano Googins ’61 of Braintree, Corine McGarty ’09 of Quincy, Tim McDonald P’13 of Quincy, Fontbonne’s soccer coach Paul Piotrowicz of Holbrook, Janine Bernier Winters of North Attleboro. After an exciting evening filled with dancing, including student performances, and professional ballroom pairs, the Grand Champion, Marta Fasano Googins, was announced. The individual winners were Signature Move: Corine McGarty; Most Enthusiastic: Marta Fasano Googins; Most Likely To Dance Professionally: Janine Bernier Winters; Instructors’ Choice: Paul Piotrowicz; and Most Creative: Tim McDonald. The spirited event raised over $40,000 for the school.
