Suspect in home invasion and assault taken into custody

Notice from the Milton Police Department

Early today, Milton Police received information that and armed home invasion and assault had taken place in a residence off of Blue Hill River Rd. in this town. The suspect is a thirty seven year old male who has been separated from his girlfriend and their two children for several months. Last night she began receiving communications from him that were threatening.

This morning, as she prepared to take her two daughters to school in Milton, the estranged boyfriend, was armed with a handgun and secretly hiding outside of the front door, forced his way into the home assaulting the girlfriend repeatedly. Somehow the victim managed to convince him to allow her to drive the children to their schools. It was at one of the schools that a staffer observed injuries to the victims face and notified Milton Police. Subsequent investigation revealed that the suspect had just made a phone call to the Pierce Middle school was looking for his daughter. MPD was able to immediately secure both children and within a short time tracked the father who was still trying to communicate via text with the victim. He was tracked to a parking lot of the Ponkapoag Golf Course in Canton. Milton Detectives quickly located this car which was occupied by the suspect who was indicating to the victim, he was armed with a handgun.

Canton and Milton Officers as well as MSP shut down Rte. 138 momentarily while an arrest team of tactical officers moved in to initiate his arrest. The suspect was taken into custody quickly and without incident. By his side was a loaded, high capacity automatic pistol.

The suspect, James Condon, formerly of Blue Hill River Rd. in Milton, gave an address of 1607 Braley Rd. Apt. 76, New Bedford MA. He has been charged with Armed Assault in a Dwelling, unlawful possession of a Firearm, Home Invasion, Threats to Commit a Crime, Firearm Serial number Defacement, Witness Intimidation and Assault and Battery.

He is currently being held at the Milton Police Station of $100,000 cash bail. He will be arraigned in Quincy District Court on Wednesday morning.
