A Trap Door in the Parlor

News release from The Milton Historical Society

In celebration of Massachusetts Archaeology Month, the Milton historical Society is opening the trap door in the parlor of the Suffolk Resolves House on Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Rarely open to the public and unknown to most visitors, a stairway under the trap door leads to a granite room of uncertain purpose and origin. Visitors will be able to examine the room and sift through the artifacts excavated this summer by archaeologists. Unrecorded until 1950, the room remains a genuine mystery, so everyone will be encouraged to draw their own conclusions and leave them with the Historical Society. Curator and former paleolithic archaeologist Steve Kluskens will be on hand to answer questions. This activity is appropriate for ages 9 and up.
