This evening in a hot, cramped, conference room there was a manual recount of the Planning Board election. The candidates were Michael Kelly and Cheryl Tougias. Kelly won the election by 7 just votes. Given the thin margin Tougias requested a recount.
It started at 5:30 and ended about 4 hours later. It There were tables of election workers paired up. One called out the name, the other recorded it. Each candidate had an agent overseeing each team. After all the ballots had been counted Kelly have 2727 votes, Tougias 2717. Kelly picked up 3 more votes in the recount.
There were 936 blank ballots and 3 ballots for others. Kelly joins the board for a 5 year term.
