News release from the Office of Representative Walter Timilty
Representative Walter Timilty (D–Milton) recently filed several amendments to the Fiscal Year 2013 budget that has been proposed by the House Committee on Ways and Means. As a member of the powerful budget-writing committee, seeks to specifically alter two sections in order to benefit the Town of Milton.
Representative Timilty’s amendments seek $150,000 in assistance for two separate initiatives in the Town of Milton. The $150,000 includes a request for $100,000 for Milton to implement a project to clear and maintain the channel of the Pine Tree Brook which has filled in over recent years. Moreover, Timilty has also filed an amendment to enhance public safety in Milton by requesting $50,000 for the Milton Police Department. With this is money, Timilty seeks to earmark solely for directed patrols within the town.
“With local budgets being hit extremely hard by the slowed economy, it is more important than ever to attempt to assist local communities wherever possible,” said Timilty.
