Letter: Bike Milton seeks volunteers to assist with traffic counts

Letter from Lee Toma, Bike Milton

Are you fond of the Neponset River Greenway?  Would you like to help make the proposed extension happen?

The DCR is preparing a grant proposal for the Neponset River Greenway extension.  The grant would be funded by the US Department of Transportation, so the DCR is looking for transportation data along the corridor to support their application.

We, DotBike and the Boston Cyclists Union are looking for volunteers to help count bikes and pedestrians along the trail on Tuesday, October 11, between the hours of 6-9 AM and/or 4-7 PM.  If you can help at either time, it would be critically important and helpful for the grant application.

Please visit this website to sign up to volunteer:

Thank you very much for your support!  With your help, we will improve the chances of securing funding for the Neponset Greenway project.
In other news, the Neponset River Greenway proposal’s public comment deadline was extended to October 14.  If you have comments, or would like to voice your support for the project, please review the presentation online here http://www.mass.gov/dcr/news/publicmeetings/greenwaysgeneralpast.htm and send your feedback to dcr.updates@state.ma.us

Meanwhile, ride safe and enjoy the beautiful fall weather!

Sincerely,
Lee Toma
Chairman, the Milton Bicycle Advisory Committee
